What was your path to a career in construction? Human Resource Management
What do you like most about working in construction? I like the collaboration in construction, it requires teams to work together toward a common goal. Regardless of your specific role, construction work often involves collaborating and working closely with different professionals. Our industry allows us to work with many people from different backgrounds and experiences. Most all of the people you work with are family and treated as such.
This year’s theme is “Keys to the Future.” What is the key to the future of construction in Kentucky? Anticipated advancements in transportation, energy, and public spaces indicate a dynamic future where infrastructure not only meets the needs of today but also lays the groundwork for a resilient and thriving Kentucky in the years to come.
If you were to give young women (high schoolers) advice about beginning a career in construction, what would you say? Don’t be so quick to look over all of the opportunities in the construction industry for females. In 2019 females made up more than 10 percent of the workforce and it continues to grow with every year that follows. Many women find that they love the work, they’re valuable, needed, and can make a great wage.
