I Build America – Kentucky is dedicated to celebrating the women of construction. Women are a vital part of our industry, and there are female leaders at all levels of construction work. From foreman to company owners and executives, construction wouldn’t be the industry it is without its female employees. Join us and our partners in celebrating the success of women within your own company and across the nation during National Women in Construction Week 2023.

What was your path to a career in construction?
In high school I took Design Technology classes and then went to Ivy Tech to further my education in Design Technology. I was able to gain experience in Mechanical Design, which is a critical part of what we do at Process Machinery Inc., and use that knowledge towards our designs.
What do you like most about working in construction?
I love what I do as a whole from a design standpoint. It’s great that I get to contribute to something so important. Construction is the foundation for our country.
Have you seen changes for women in construction over the course of your career?
I have and I think that letting women know that there are opportunities in these fields will help future generations consider construction fields as a career.
If you were to give young women (high schoolers) advice about beginning a career in construction, what would you say?
Everyone must start somewhere. Be curious and eager to learn, then everything else will fall into place.
