What was your path to a career in construction?
I applied for an office position with Quality Stone and after 5 years working out of the Middletown office was moved to the quarry.
What do you like most about working in construction?
It’s a field you can learn something new everyday if you keep an open mind and want to.
Have you seen changes for women in construction over the course of your career?
Oh yes! You have women driving rock trucks and concrete trucks, dispatching, working on road jobs, etc. If you want to work there is a place for you.
If you were to give young women (high schoolers) advice about beginning a career in construction, what would you say?
You have to want to work, and be a part of a team. You can be an engineer or an architect or work in the field, any of these fields can be very rewarding.
